Violin Instructor

POSITION SUMMARY

Rosie's House, one of the nation’s largest free music education non-profits, seeks a Violin Instructor for its Afterschool Program to teach violin group classes. Violin group classes are available for students in grades 3-12, and students are grouped by their grade levels. They focus on violin fundamentals and incorporate methods from Suzuki. Violin group class is an entry level class for students to begin their journey in music, and it is structured to foster a positive environment for social bonding.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach group violin classes for students in grades 3-12 Create lesson plans and supplement materials as needed Evaluate and report on the progress of students Collaborate with other strings faculty for large group performances Prepare students for concerts and recital performances Attend faculty meetings and special school events

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

Thorough knowledge of violin performance and pedagogy Experience teaching and evaluating students in grades K-12 consistently over 2+ years, with proven results in their learning and musical development Ability to identify and meet students’ diverse learning needs Commitment to respectful, compassionate, and active communication with students, families, colleagues, and staff Passion for transforming lives through high-quality music education

WEEKLY SCHEDULE

Thursday 4:00pm-7:00pm, Group Classes (3) Start date is August 17th Some additional hours required for training, special projects, and events

EDUCATION AND REQUIREMENTS

Required Bachelor’s degree and 2 years teaching experience, or 6 years equivalent youth development experience Fingerprint clearance card (or ability to obtain one) Preferred Arizona Teaching Certification
