Communications Department - Student Employee

Communications Student Employee
The Communications Student Employee will assist in creating and implementing communication strategies to enhance the department's outreach and engagement efforts. This position provides hands-on experience in content creation, social media management, and public relations while fostering career-ready skills in communication, adaptability, and digital literacy.
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in creating and scheduling social media content across various platforms to engage target audiences.
- Write, edit, and proofread content for newsletters, press releases, and other communications materials.
- Collaborate with team members to develop effective communication campaigns that align with department goals.
- Monitor and analyze the performance of communication efforts, using tools like social media analytics and surveys to inform future strategies.
- Support event promotion by designing flyers, drafting announcements, and coordinating outreach efforts.
- Help ensure all materials align with Maryville's branding and communication standards.
- Assist with photography, videography, and editing for department projects.

Minimum Qualifications
- Familiarity with social media platforms and their best practices (e.g., Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn).
- Experience with design tools such as Canva, Adobe Photoshop, or Illustrator is a plus.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Attention to detail and a creative mindset.
- A passion for communication and a desire to learn and grow in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
- Basic knowledge of video editing software is preferred but not required.
Skills Required
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills.
Position Pay: $15/hr
Hours per week: 10 hrs
Start Date: 08/01/2026
End Date: 05/01/2027
