Job Description The Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care. The staff RN utilizes the nursing process through technology, therapeutic intervention, evidence‑based practice, and coordination with other health team members. Scope of Practice Assess, recognize, and address patients’ psychological and physical needs Foster quality of care with the best interests of patients and families in mind Communicate compassionately and effectively Assist in developing individualized treatment plans Comply with evaluation, treatment, and documentation guidelines Oversee care delivered by LPNs and/or CNAs Participate in clinical team conferences Follow hospital, regulatory, and professional guidelines, policies, and procedures Posting Specifics Entry Rate: Depending on experience Benefits: Eligible – Yes Shift Details: Part time night shift, weekends, holidays on a rotating basis Department: ICU with floating to med/surg depending on census – St James Healthcare – Butte, MT Location: St James Hospital Scheduled Weekly Hours: 24 Hourly Range: $33.38 – $79.73 (actual rate depends on experience) Minimum Qualifications BSN Degree from an accredited program required within 4 years unless 15 years of acute care service Failure to obtain a BSN within this timeframe may result in suspension or termination of employment Nurses with ASN/ADN hired before September 1, 2014 are exempt from the BSN requirement Eligible nurses hired between September 2, 2014, and April 15, 2019 have 5 years/60 months to obtain a BSN Registered nurse license in the State of Montana BLS certification upon hire ACLS required within 9 months of hire for all ICU/ED RN’s TNCC or TCAR within 12 months of transfer or hire for all ICU/ED RN’s; maintain TNCC/TCAR or equivalent recognized by the American College of Surgeons Critical Care Experience: Highly preferred Essential Job Functions Work as part of an interdisciplinary team to achieve patient‑focused outcomes Read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and professional journals Write reports and effectively present information to managers, clients, customers, and the general public Perform basic mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, compute rate, ratio, percent) Use judgment to solve practical problems and interpret instructions in various formats Maintain regular attendance during scheduled shifts Manually operate monitors, assess patient needs, identify equipment and supplies Communicate verbally with patient care providers, patients, and visitors; listen and respond accurately, especially during emergencies Use manual dexterity for complex equipment and frequent computer use, typing for documentation, medication preparation, etc. Lift and transfer patients, bend to retrieve, lift and carry supplies (up to heavy items) Walk, assist with transporting/ambulating patients; push/pull gurneys and portable equipment, often in crowded rooms Stand in a stationary position for extended periods as required Additional Information We care about your well‑being – mind, body, and spirit – and provide a generous benefits package to support wellness.
