Registered Nurse (RN) Full Time DETOX/WITHDRAWAL MGT, Minneapolis, MN, US Salary Range: $38.00 To $43.00 Hourly Department: Withdrawal Management Reports To: Charge Nurse and Nursing Supervisor Organization Overview The American Indian Community Development Corporation (AICDC) is a culturally rooted nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening American Indian communities in the Twin Cities metro area. Through decades of service, AICDC has built strong, trusted relationships with Tribal Governments and community partners, working collaboratively to deliver respectful, community-driven services. Position Summary The Registered Nurse (RN) delivers interdisciplinary health care services to clients receiving Withdrawal Management services. This role provides direct nursing care to individuals experiencing chemical dependency and co-occurring mental health conditions while ensuring a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment. The RN applies established policies, protocols, and procedures to safeguard life and health through the administration of prescribed medications and treatments. The RN supports shift operations, provides guidance to support staff, and may act as a shift supervisor in the absence of a Charge Nurse. This position requires clinical judgment, compassionate client care, and adherence to the mission and philosophy of AICDC Withdrawal Management. Essential Responsibilities Provide safe, current, and effective nursing care using the nursing process as the framework for care delivery Coordinate and manage multiple priorities efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment Communicate effectively and professionally with clients, coworkers, visitors, administration, and other healthcare professionals Triage, assess, and prioritize clients’ medical and medication needs through observation, documentation, and reporting of client status Implement and evaluate plans of care, including monitoring client status in anticipation of discharge Administer Condition-Specific Protocols in accordance with AICDC Withdrawal Management policies and procedures Apply critical thinking skills when analyzing clinical data, setting realistic client goals, and conducting assessments and interviews Review and interpret secondary clinical data, including diagnostic tests and laboratory results Document findings thoroughly and accurately in client records and report significant findings to the Nursing Supervisor and/or on-call physician Intervene appropriately with clients, staff, and other professionals to modify plans of care in response to changing client needs Provide client education related to illnesses, conditions, and treatment while incorporating goals into discharge planning Ensure compliance with licensing agencies, regulatory bodies, and applicable statutes to support lawful and effective unit operations Assist with implementation of withdrawal management policies and procedures established by the Medical Director Attend and participate in required staff training (minimum of 15 hours annually) Perform other duties as requested by management that are reasonable and in the best interest of AICDC and its clients Supervisory Authority Discontinue staff member’s shift for the following reasons: chemical use, insubordination, sleeping on shift, non-support of policies, procedures, or client rights, or other behaviors with approval of the Charge Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, or Director Authorize QR placements utilizing the call sheet and Protective Procedures Plan as guidance Contact the Charge Nurse, Nursing Supervisor, and/or Director for consultation or direction as needed Physical Requirements Physical Agility: Ability to initiate or participate in physical restraint of a client Lifting/Carrying: Ability to assist with lifting or carrying clients, potentially weighing 25–100+ pounds Stooping/Kneeling: Ability to administer first aid and/or CPR for extended periods as required Pushing/Pulling: Ability to move clients, beds, or chairs and open doors as necessary Climbing: Ability to climb up to three flights of stairs during emergency evacuations Position Requirements Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Minnesota Minimum of two (2) years freedom from chemical use/abuse problems Must remain free from chemical use problems as a condition of continued employment; employment will be terminated immediately if chemical use problems arise Excellent communication and problem-solving skills Sensitivity to the needs of individuals experiencing chemical dependency, homelessness, unemployment, and diverse cultural backgrounds Ability to pass a Minnesota Department of Human Services (MDHS) background check Preferred Qualifications Experience working in chemical dependency and/or mental health settings Working knowledge of state licensing requirements Working knowledge of Minnesota Department of Health licensing requirements Why Join AICDC AICDC offers a mission-driven workplace where nurses play a meaningful role in improving health outcomes for American Indian individuals and families.
