Job Title Founding Engineer Salary $150k-$180k Equity Company Description Leland Care is a well-funded, pre-launch health-tech startup founded by a Stanford MBA and former executive from Sword Health and Homebase, building the first unified system of record for aging. Job Description As the first technical hire, you will build Leland Care’s core platform from scratch, developing the architecture, data ingestion pipelines, and AI intelligence layer. You’ll transform fragmented healthcare data into a proactive system of record, owning technical decisions and execution for a mission-driven startup preparing for 2026 health system pilots. Location USA Why this role is remarkable True 0-1 ownership as the first technical leader, defining the architectural foundation of a platform with no existing codebase or legacy constraints. Backed by a multi-year runway and founded by a leader who scaled businesses at Sword Health and Homebase, with major US health system pilots already slated for 2026. Solve the massive, fragmented data problem in senior care, creating a product that directly helps seniors live longer, healthier, and more coordinated lives. What You Will Do Design and implement the complete technical architecture across four layers: data ingestion/storage, intelligence, action, and compliance. Build agentic AI systems that synthesize fragmented information from physicians, insurers, and pharmacies into actionable, coordinated support for seniors. Lead end-to-end development from initial concept through pilot launch, making high-leverage decisions on the tech stack and engineering culture. The ideal candidate Proven track record of building complex systems from scratch and thriving in the high-ambiguity environment of an early-stage startup. First-principles thinker with deep expertise in data pipelines, intelligence layers, and creating scalable technical infrastructure.
