Facilities Supervisor II – Salem This position supervises custodial staff and oversees maintenance and facility operations for multiple court buildings, ensuring cleanliness, safety, and compliance with Trial Court standards. Location Massachusetts – Salem (Michael Ruane Judicial Center) Position Summary Supervises all custodial staff and related work for a number of court facilities; coordinates installations, repairs, and maintenance across assigned courthouses. Essential Functions & Responsibilities Ensures courthouses are presentable to Trial Court standards and the general public. Provides staff supervision for maintenance of courthouse facilities. Operates standard building controls and reports any system failures. Manages job request computer system; completes requests by outsourced vendors and contractors. Manages employees, distributes job tasks and direction. Prepares building status and/or incident reports for Manager of Facilities as needed. Initiates purchase requests and receives and distributes supplies. Develops or applies for incentive programs to operate more efficient cleaning practices. Oversees and performs all aspects of building operations: cleaning, maintenance, building systems, exterior grounds, repairs, projects, and equipment. Maintains a safe work environment, responds to facility emergencies, and supervises in‑house projects. Conducts multiple daily walk‑throughs of buildings. Coordinates preventative maintenance work on mechanical systems. Assists with upkeep for custodial equipment as necessary. Performs other duties as required. May be required to work outside of regularly scheduled hours, including staying late or coming in early, especially during emergencies. At least five (5) years of related work experience, which may include time spent in an apprenticeship for a skilled trade license. License in a skilled trade is a plus. Equivalent combinations of education and related experience will be considered for meeting minimum qualifications. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of Trial Court Safety Policies and Procedures; Workplace and public safety regulations; Building codes; Construction of commercial and industrial building applications; Maintenance and construction costs; Project management; Computer programs and related software; Green cleaning methods and high efficiency building mechanical systems; Purchasing policies and procedures. Skill in multitasking; organization and prioritization; detail orientation; verbal and written communication. Ability to recognize and correct problem areas in facilities; provide clear instructions to employees; operate various types of cleaning, maintenance and landscaping equipment; coordinate job tasks for staff. Supervisory Responsibility This position serves as a supervisor to others. Working Conditions Work is frequently performed in office or similar indoor environments, outdoor environments, warehouses or file/storage environments, and shops/facilities environments. Work requires frequent exposure to fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals or substances. Physical Demands This position requires heavy work: exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly having to move objects. Schedule 2:00 PM – 10:00 PM (shift may vary with emergencies). Works primarily in the evening. Salary $71,439.16 – $105,289.60 yearly (Union, entry level rate per collective bargaining agreement/MOU).
