Make a meaningful impact supporting students as a contract specialist for Deaf and Hard of Hearing services in an engaging educational setting near San Francisco, CA. This opportunity is designed for professionals passionate about fostering accessible learning environments and providing expert guidance for individuals who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Certification as a Deaf/Hard of Hearing Specialist or Teacher of the Deaf/Hard of Hearing.
- Experience working in school settings, utilizing appropriate communication and instructional strategies for DHH students.
- Strong understanding of IEP processes and ability to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) and/or other communication methods used within DHH education.
- Skilled in adapting curriculum and instructional materials for diverse learning needs.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a caring, advocacy-focused demeanor.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Support students with hearing loss by developing and implementing tailored instructional strategies.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers, school staff, and families to increase inclusion and access to curriculum.
- Participate in IEP meetings, providing expert input and assessment data to inform student plans.
- Advocate for students’ needs and serve as a resource for assistive technology, accommodation, and communication access.
- Deliver direct instruction and consultative support, ensuring students can fully participate in both academic and extracurricular activities.
- Stay current with best practices and legal requirements in the field of Deaf/Hard of Hearing education.
