About the Job RN-PRN at Las Cruces Recovery Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico. The Registered Nurse provides nursing care and coordinates treatment for clients. Responsibilities Assess physical and behavioral health needs of clients and develop individualized nursing care plans. Maintain accurate and timely medical records, including admission, discharge, and daily documentation. Administer medications accurately, using at least two client identifiers, and document administration and effects of PRN medications. Monitor and report significant changes in client status, including medical emergencies, lab results, or responses to medication. Cooperate with inter‑disciplinary team members, including nurses, therapists, program managers, and providers, to ensure safe and effective client care. Participate in unit activities such as therapy groups, family meetings, staffing meetings, and other appropriate sessions. Educate clients, families, and co‑workers about medication use, side effects, and client rights. Maintain accountability of medication administration, control, and security, including narcotics. Coordinate coverage needs based on client acuity, census, and staffing levels, escalating to supervisor or Charge RN as necessary. Communicate thorough hand‑off reports to incoming staff and supervisors. Qualifications Graduation from an approved or accredited school of nursing. One or more years of nursing experience in a clinical setting, preferably within behavioral health, psychiatric, or addiction recovery environments. Knowledge of psychotropic medications and medication administration procedures. Ability to apply nursing standards and practice within an acute psychiatric setting. Licenses and Certifications Valid current RN license from the state, or a compact state license if applicable. Certification in Psychiatric Nursing preferred. CPR, de‑escalation, and restraint certification required; training available upon hire. First aid certification may be required based on state or facility requirements.
