Position Overview

As a Retail Market Associate/Cafe Server , you will be the face of our Market Cafe. This is a fluid, dynamic role perfect for someone who loves people, possesses a strong work ethic, and is dedicated to going above and beyond for our guests. You will balance retail merchandising, food and beverage service, guest relations, and daily operational tasks with energy and enthusiasm.

Key Responsibilities

1. Guest Service & Cafe Dining

• Greet dine-in guests warmly, present daily specials clearly, and take precise food/beverage orders.
• Deliver exceptional table service, performing routine satisfaction checks to ensure an unforgettable dining experience.
• Efficiently ring up orders and process payments promptly.
• Manage phone inquiries, take accurate To-Go orders, and confidently answer questions regarding our specialized market goods.

2. Retail Merchandising & Inventory

• Develop an in-depth knowledge of our Italian market products to enthusiastically upsell and increase retail revenue.
• Stock retail shelves, pull inventory forward, and assist management in creating attractive, effective product displays.
• Monitor expiration dates and actively participate in monthly inventory counts.
• Keep the retail storage closet impeccably clean and organized.

3. Packaging & Stocking

• Package house-made culinary products neatly, ensuring correct and professional label/sticker placement.
• Maintain a deep familiarity with all packaging materials and storage locations.
• Stock and rotate cooler inventory using the FIFO (First In, First Out) method.
• Maximize limited market cooler space by stocking efficiently.
• Collaborate with the kitchen by creating and updating production request sheets.

4. Host Duties & Reservations

• Warmly welcome and seat guests upon arrival.
• Demonstrate proficiency in OpenTable to manage, adjust, confirm, and take reservations for both daily dining and our popular Cooking Classes.

5. Facility Maintenance & Presentation

• Complete opening and closing side work in a timely, efficient manner.
• Maintain a pristine environment by cleaning windows, doors, and cooler glass throughout the day.
• Dust retail shelves, sanitize the checkout counter, and keep the register area completely free of clutter.

Job Requirements & Physical Demands

• Experience: Previous hospitality, server, or retail experience is highly preferred. Proficiency with OpenTable is a major plus.
• Communication: Fluent in English with excellent verbal and interpersonal skills.
• Physical Demands: Must be willing and physically able to frequently walk up and down stairs while carrying heavy loads. Ability to stand and move for extended periods.
• Attributes: A positive, resilient attitude; ability to multi-task under pressure while maintaining a warm smile.
• Logistics: Must have reliable transportation and be authorized to work in the United States.
