Laboratory Assistant

Our Wilmington, NC laboratory is looking for a Laboratory Assistant to join their team! The Laboratory Assistant will complete a wide variety of support tasks for the Lab Technicians and Lab Analysts, ensuring best quality by following SGS' SOPs. The Laboratory Assistant works independently and as part of a team to ensure timely completion of all assigned tasks. The Laboratory Assistant always follows safe laboratory practices and maintains a safe working environment.

Job functions:

• Signs out supplies from supply room.
• Maintains adequate supply of accessories, consumables, chemicals, etc. in each lab, to ensure efficiency of production work.
• Disposes of samples after the appropriate retention period.
• Documents in LIMS and disposes of expired/depleted chemicals.
• Assembles non-treated in-house media.
• Decontaminates/cleans laboratory glassware, containers, accessories, etc., following SOPs.
• Performs administrative tasks, as needed.
• Adheres to internal standards, policies, and procedures.
• Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma (Required)
• HS diploma and 1-2 years of general work experience (Preferred)
• Proficient English language skills (Required)
• Basic reasoning and mathematical skills (Required)
• Basic computer skills (Required)
• Ability to lift/carry/push and/or pull upwards of 25 lb on a frequent basis (Required)
