Product Manager - Wire & Cable

In this position, you'll own the full product lifecycle for their rail/transit products while driving growth in industrial and military segments. You'll be the critical bridge between market demands, engineering innovation, and field sales—from market analysis and regulatory compliance to commercialization and customer success. Responsibilities Market Development Analyze competitive landscapes and emerging industry trends to identify new product opportunities and improvements Evaluate regulatory changes and evolving customer requirements across rail/transit, industrial, and military sectors Own the complete product development lifecycle, coordinating seamlessly with R&D and engineering teams Collaborate on extrusion compound formulation and optimization for extreme operating environments Create comprehensive technical documentation including engineering drawings, material specifications, and datasheets Ensure all products meet or exceed industry compliance standards and manage external certifications Operations & Cost Management Develop product cost analyses and engineering quotations Build pricing strategies that balance performance requirements with cost efficiency Source and specify raw materials while optimizing for both performance and value Partner directly with field sales engineers on customer calls, presentations, and technical support Develop marketing literature and sales collateral Serve as the go‑to technical expert for custom applications and customer inquiries Represent the company at industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events Travel domestically and internationally to support sales and industry activities - 10-15% Requirements B.S. in Engineering with 5+ years of product management experience in manufacturing, ideally with wire/cable products Deep working knowledge of rail/transit industry standards and compliance requirements Technical expertise in material science, polymer chemistry, or materials engineering—especially extrusion compounds for extreme environments Proven track record managing product compliance, regulatory approvals, and third‑party certifications Demonstrated success in field sales support, customer site visits, and trade show engagement Exceptional communication skills—able to translate complex engineering concepts for technical and non‑technical audiences Successful history launching new products or entering regulated market segments Proficiency in Microsoft Office, CAD, or SolidWorks Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary based on experience and expertise Comprehensive benefits package including a generous bonus program Flexible remote options available for highly qualified candidates with a proven track record Collaborative, team‑oriented culture with genuine work‑life balance This position is at our client's Vermont manufacturing facility Competitive compensation starting at $110K+ plus bonus and relocation. #J-18808-Ljbffr Orion Global Talent
