Program Coordinator, Academic Success & Accessibility Services

Department: Center for Academic Success & Specialized Resource Center Reports To: Director of Academic Success and Accessibility Services Under the supervision of the Director of Academic Success and Accessibility Services, the Program Coordinator oversees the daily operations of both the Center for Academic Success and the Specialized Resource Center at Manhattan University. The Program Coordinator ensures that tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and other peer academic support programs are effectively staffed and delivered, while also ensuring that accommodations and accessibility services are provided efficiently, confidentially, and in compliance with university, state, and federal ADA policies. The Program Coordinator supervises peer educators, builds strategic relationships with faculty and campus partners, and serves as a point of contact for both areas. The ideal candidate is highly organized, collaborative, and student-centered, and is capable of managing multiple programs, student staff, and competing priorities across two distinct but complementary service areas. Academic Success: Oversee daily operations of tutoring, Supplemental Instruction, and other peer academic support services — including staffing, scheduling, and space utilization serving as a primary point of contact for students, faculty, and peer educators. Recruit, train, and supervise peer educators, coordinating hiring, onboarding, and professional development, and addressing day-to-day performance and scheduling matters in consultation with the Director. Coordinate faculty outreach and course partnerships to identify need and support integration of academic support services into the curriculum. Accessibility Services: Manage a caseload of students to advise on and coordinate accommodations — including exam proctoring, alternate format materials, assistive technology, and outside services such as ASL interpreting and real-time transcription — in adherence to ADA policies and protocols. Assist with recruiting, training, and coordinating accommodation-related student staff, and maintain related logistics such as the Emergency Locator Chart. Serve as liaison to accessibility technology vendors and university accessibility coordinators, and keep the office current on best practices in the field. Shared Responsibilities: Monitor and evaluate program effectiveness across both areas by collecting and analyzing participation and utilization data, and preparing reports, surveys, and assessments for internal and external audiences. Maintain office technology, student databases, and web content for both centers, and develop or refine work plans and procedures to guide service delivery. Represent both centers at campus events, orientations, and committees; contribute to strategic planning and special initiatives; and support training or workshops that advance the mission of each area. Perform other duties as assigned. Bachelor's degree, preferably in higher education, student affairs, education, counseling, disability studies, academic support, or a related field. At least one year of experience in academic support, student success, tutoring, or disability/accessibility services environment within an education environment. Demonstrated experience coordinating programs, supervising student employees, and developing or facilitating training. Demonstrated knowledge of Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, the ADA of 1990 and its 2008 amendments, and related university, state, and federal policies. Strong organizational, communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, with sensitivity to the confidential and unique needs of students. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, students, and campus partners, including diverse and international student populations. Commitment to inclusive, student-centered practices and the academic success of diverse student populations. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Working knowledge of assistive technologies for persons with disabilities; experience with AIM case management software preferred.
