SUMMARY:

The Production Operator is responsible for safely operating manufacturing product batches according to formula procedures.  Production Operators operate equipment, monitoring product quality, and supporting efficient production processes. This role ensures production processing targets, safety standards, and quality requirements are consistently met. 

WALK-IN INTERVIEWS -  Monday-Thursday, 11am-3pm at 400 Orrton Ave. Bldg. 1 in Reading.

Day & Night shifts / Shift Differential Pay / Overtime as needed

Responsibilities and Essential Duties:

• Compound, mix and blend chemical batches
• Cross-trained to perform multiple manufacturing functions, allowing flexibility to support production operations based on business needs. 
• Operate production machinery and equipment according to standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Monitor production to ensure efficient workflow and product quality.
• Perform routine equipment checks and basic troubleshooting.
• Follow all safety, environmental, and quality regulations.
• Read batch record to determine required materials, quantities and procedure to be followed for manufacturing process.
• Weigh quantities of materials for use in the manufacturing process.
• Place loose or packaged material on scales and add or remove portions of material to obtain specified weight.
• Start machine and observe operation. Must be able to read and follow work order and formulas.
• Load raw materials in specified sequence into vat, hopper or mixing pot.
• Monitor and log time and temperature as specified on batch ticket.
• Accurately record information such as weight, type of product, date and batch number of products produced.
• Maintain accuracy of inventory of materials used and on hand by recording on the batch sheet and marking drums.
• Perform quality checks during production to ensure products meet production specifications and customer quality standards.
• Package finished products per batch record specifications.
• Transfer weighed materials to production or storage areas.
• Inspect materials, products, and containers at each step of manufacturing process.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S/housekeeping standards)
• Clean machines, tools, and equipment. Performs other routine duties.
• Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, or quality concerns to supervisors.
• Assist with machine changeovers and setup activities.
• Work collaboratively with maintenance, quality, and production teams.
• Other duties may be assigned.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

Additional requirements for the position also include but are not limited to:

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Previous manufacturing or production experience preferred.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, multiplication and division).
• Ability to use measuring tools and production equipment.
• Speak, read and write English effectively.
• Must be willing and able to learn to operate a forklift safely.
• Learn to use and operate scan guns to report and control inventories.
• Physically able to work 8 hrs. shifts

Work Environment

• Being able to work in a hot and dusty environment (safety Personal Protective Equipment provided)
• Exposure to outside elements during workday
• Potential exposure to chemicals or air pollutants
• May require shift work, overtime, weekends, or holidays

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

• Regularly stand and walk thoughout the shift.
• Unrestricted ability to bend, twist, reach, stoo, squat, balance, climb, and kneel.
• Physically able to lift, push/pull 55 pounds.
• Frequent exposure to varying temperatures, loud noises, heavy machinery, fumes, or airborne particles, wet floor, moving mechanical parts, electrical, chemicals, vibrations, and working on a high platform.
• Good eye/hand coordination.
• Ability to seize, hold, grasp, turn, or otherwise working with hand or hands.
• Must be able to mop, sweep, pick up and carry items.
