Practice Development Specialist

Join our Marketing Team as a Practice Development Specialist located in either our Austin, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Miami, or Phoenix office. This role will be based in either our Austin, Atlanta, Dallas, Houston, Miami or Phoenix office and regular in-office presence is required for day-to-day operations, as well as for team meetings, training opportunities, and relationship building. This role reports to the Senior Practice Development Manager. Position Summary The Practice Development Specialist will work directly with members of the Real Estate marketing team and contribute to a broad range of practice-specific business development and marketing initiatives as part of the firm’s global marketing and business development team. Key Responsibilities Collaborates with the Real Estate marketing team, practice leadership, attorneys, and marketing colleagues to develop and execute strategic marketing and business development initiatives for the Global Real Estate Department Supports business development plans aligned with department growth objectives, client priorities, market opportunities, and cross-selling initiatives across offices and practices Monitors real estate industry trends, market developments, client sectors, and competitor activity to identify opportunities for attorney engagement, thought leadership, and client development Develops, updates, and manages marketing resources and practice materials, including practice descriptions, representative matters, experience databases, deal lists, and client-targeting resources Coordinates and contributes to proposals, pitches, RFPs, capability statements, presentations, and other client-facing materials that highlight the firm’s real estate experience and differentiators Supports attorneys in identifying and pursuing new business opportunities and relationship-expansion efforts with clients, prospects, and referral sources Tracks and organizes significant transactions, client successes, rankings submissions, awards opportunities, and related experience for use in marketing and business development initiatives Coordinates practice group meetings and department calls, prepare agendas, capture action items, and monitor progress on strategic initiatives Drafts, edits, and distributes marketing communications, including client alerts, newsletters, legal updates, speaking engagement materials, award submissions, and other promotional content Assists with planning and executing client events, conferences, sponsorships, charitable initiatives, and related collateral in collaboration with events, creative services, digital marketing, communications, research, and business development teams Supports strategic and ad hoc marketing and business development projects as needed Qualifications Skills & Competencies Strong client-service orientation and ability to build trusted relationships with attorneys, colleagues, and internal stakeholders Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including strong editing, proofreading, and content-development capabilities Proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet competing deadlines in a fast-paced environment Strong organizational skills and meticulous attention to detail Ability to think strategically while effectively managing day-to-day execution Proactive problem solver with a high degree of initiative, accountability, and sound judgment Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to synthesize and present market intelligence clearly Collaborative mindset with the ability to work independently and as part of a global team Flexibility, adaptability, and professionalism when responding to evolving priorities and attorney needs Education & Prior Experience Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, Journalism, or a related field preferred Minimum of five years of experience in marketing, business development, or professional services marketing Law firm experience preferred Experience supporting a real estate legal practice, commercial real estate business, or professional services organization strongly preferred Knowledge of commercial real estate terminology, industry participants, and market dynamics preferred Technology High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) Experience using firm-approved AI tools (e.g., Copilot, ChatGPT, or similar platforms) to support professional and managerial work, applying judgment to validate outputs and maintain accountability for final deliverables Models and promotes responsible AI use, including the adoption of emerging AI technologies, emphasizing privacy, confidentiality, and appropriate human oversight Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to move from workstation or desk throughout the work area to work independently or with a team to meet with colleagues or supervisor and retrieve work assignments. This position may also be sedentary and require the employee to sit for extended periods of time. Requires manual dexterity to use a phone, enter data into a computer, handle objects, and use office equipment.
