The Cafe General Manager position is a collaborative, hands-on role, often working side by side with teammates and management, to bring an exceptional cafe experience to our communities. Cafe General Managers are responsible for leading our teams, overseeing daily operations, and assuring the integrity of our products and brand. This role requires strong leadership skills, financial acumen, organization and the ability to cultivate a positive cafe culture. Our Cafe General Managers can work every role in the cafe.Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesThe essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:Leadership & Team DevelopmentRecruit, train, develop, and onboard a high-performing teamFoster a positive, team-oriented culture with strong communication and accountabilityLead by example while working side-by-side with your teamConduct performance evaluations and provide regular feedback to staffOperations & Service ExcellenceOversee daily cafe operationsMaintain high service standards, ensuring a consistently excellent guest experienceUphold quality assurance standards for all menu itemsCreate staff schedule while focusing on labor costs to maximize efficiencyEnsure smooth coordination between all positions in the cafeManage inventory, ordering, and supplies related to all cafe operationsImplement and monitor necessary SOPs for the cafeHandle guest feedback with professionalism and problem-solving skillsBuild relationships with the community to enhance brand presenceBusiness ManagementMonitor budgets, sales, and expenses to meet financial goalsTrack and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive revenue and profitabilityImplement cost-control strategies without compromising qualityMonitor sales and revenue, and implement strategies to maximize profitabilityPrepare and present reports on sales, labor, and other financial aspects as requiredCompliance & MaintenanceMaintain a clean guest facing environment at all timesEnsure compliance with health and safety regulations, labor laws, and company policiesHave or obtain within 90 days after hiring: City of Philadelphia Food Safety CertificateOversee facility upkeep and coordinate with vendors as neededUphold cleanliness and sanitation standards in all FOH & BOH areasQualifications2+ years of experience as a Cafe Manager or similar leadership roleA guest-focused mindset with a passion for hospitalityComprehensive knowledge of, or strong desire to learn, coffee origins, processes, preparation and brewing techniquesAbility to coach, mentor, & develop hourly team membersKnowledge of POS systems and restaurant management softwareAbility to adapt to a fast-paced and occasional high-stress environmentExcellent communication, organizational, and leadership skillsExperience with financial management, including P&L oversight and budgetingDOH Accreditation and/or ServSafe CertifiedExpectationsAttend working shifts on time and in accordance with dress code and appearance guidelinesEnsure all necessary shift coverageMaster knowledge of products sold in the storeAvailability to work a varied and flexible schedule, including the busiest cafe shifts such as early mornings, weekends, and holidaysAverage 45 hours/weekPhysical DemandsThis position will require the employee to periodically lift, push, pull or carry items up to 50 lbs in weight (putting away deliveries of boxes, heavy items such as coffee orders, etc)This position requires the employee to stand for extended periods of timeThis position will require the employee to periodically climb stairs, ramps, or uneven surfacesThis position will require the employee to work with equipment that is hot and/or sharpCompensation & BenefitsCompetitive Salary (DOE)Medical coverage40 hours Paid Sick Leave (City)80 hours Paid Time Off401(k) Savings Account (3% Matching)Free bag of coffee every week!Free personal drinks any timeWe operate on an elevated level of hospitality and always expect to put our best foot forward.
