Air Conditioning Mechanic II – Round Rock Campus Full‑time permanent position with a monthly salary of $3,901–$4,876. Required Qualifications: Must possess EPA Section 608 certification or be able to obtain one within 60 days. Must have employment experience as an HVAC‑R mechanic, demonstrating knowledge of HVAC‑R principles and skill in troubleshooting and repair. Understand mechanical concepts. Ability to perform basic math and use trade‑specific tools. Ability and willingness to communicate professionally and effectively with university staff, faculty, students, guests, and contractors. Available and willing to work after‑hours on‑call duty, on a rotating basis with other shop personnel. Preferred Qualifications: Three (3) years HVAC experience. Previous experience in higher education or government. Ability to read blueprints & schematics and interpret technical manuals. Experience with SAP & AiM. Job Description: The Air Conditioning Mechanic II will oversee and ensure the maintenance of appropriate heating and cooling levels in university buildings. Key Responsibilities: Inspect buildings and systems and perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of air conditioning and heating systems and related equipment. Operate refrigerant recovery equipment on the Texas State University Round Rock campus. Identify irrigation problems and report to supervisor. Perform preventive maintenance and light repairs at the CUB. Participate in on‑call rotation for the Round Rock Facilities group. Complete work orders and log sheets. Operate university vehicle. Perform other duties as assigned. Additional Information: Job Open Date: 02/26/2026 Job Close Date: Open until filled (posting closes at midnight). Normal Work Days: Monday–Friday.
