Sr. Manager, Machine Learning Engineering

Salary: $227,871 - 469,147 per year Requirements:

• We look for 7+ years of combined post-graduate academic and industry experience applying advanced machine learning methods to real-world challenges on web-scale datasets, plus 3+ years of direct people management experience.
• We want a demonstrated record of delivering high-impact initiatives across multiple product areas and of influencing peers and leaders with data-backed insights.
• We value experience mentoring, coaching, and elevating software and machine learning engineers.
• We seek a self-directed learner who stays current with industry trends, new tools, and emerging methods, and who enjoys building proof-of-concept prototypes.
• We need strong business and product judgment, including the ability to turn ambiguous questions into clearly scoped projects with measurable success criteria.
• We expect excellent communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical findings for leadership and product partners, supported by a strong publication record in machine learning, AI, data science, or related fields.
• We require an MS or PhD in Computer Science, Machine Learning, NLP, Statistics, Information Sciences, or a related discipline.
• Nice to have: a publication record at top-tier ML or RecSys conferences such as KDD, RecSys, NeurIPS, or CVPR.
• Nice to have: experience using modern LLM and agentic workflows, as well as generative AI capabilities, to improve engineering productivity and context extraction.

• We own the technical roadmap and strategic direction for our next-generation recommendation systems, championing state-of-the-art ML approaches to drive innovation.
• We turn breakthrough machine learning research into production-ready systems that have a direct impact on core business metrics.
• We manage, motivate, and develop a team of machine learning researchers and engineers focused on recommendation systems.
• We partner with the team to shape its charter, balancing cutting-edge research with foundational embedding work that supports products across the company.
• We collaborate with Core Engineering, Ads Engineering, Infrastructure, Content, and Data Science teams to prototype, build, and scale solutions to complex technical problems.
• We work with leadership to deepen user understanding and help set the strategic direction for our recommendation system roadmap.
