Shipper/Receiver

Rapid Micro Biosystems is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Shipper/Receiver to join our logistics team, with a primary focus on outbound shipping. This role is critical to ensuring our products move accurately and compliantly across international borders. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with international shipping documentation, HTS (Harmonized Tariff Schedule) classification, and works confidently with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare, process, and manage international and domestic outbound shipments as the primary function of the role, ensuring accuracy in documentation, labeling, and packaging
• Classify goods using accurate HTS codes and ensure compliance with U.S. export regulations and destination country import requirements
• Prepare commercial invoices, packing lists, certificates of origin, and other export documentation
• Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to ensure timely and compliant international delivery
• Receive, inspect, and verify incoming shipments against purchase orders and packing slips; report discrepancies or damage
• Maintain accurate inventory records for both incoming and outgoing materials
• Utilize SAP to process shipping/receiving transactions, update inventory records, and generate shipping documentation
• Ensure proper handling, packaging, and labeling of materials in accordance with company procedures and regulatory requirements
• Support Dangerous Goods (DG) shipment identification and handling procedures where applicable
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shipping/receiving area in compliance with company and safety standards
• Identify process improvements and proactively resolve shipping issues with minimal direction

Qualifications

Required:

• 3-5 years of shipping/receiving experience, with a strong emphasis on international shipping
• Working knowledge of HTS code classification and export documentation requirements
• Experience with SAP or similar ERP system for inventory and shipping transactions
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and problem-solve with minimal supervision
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy in documentation
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and operate material handling equipment (forklift, pallet jack)
• High school diploma or equivalent

Preferred:

• Dangerous Goods (DG) certification (IATA/DOT/IMDG)
• Experience in a life sciences, biotech, or regulated manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with export compliance regulations (EAR, ITAR awareness a plus)

Compensation & Schedule

Salary: $79,000 annually (Non-Exempt/Hourly position)

Schedule: Full-time, on-site at our Lowell, MA facility
