SUMMARY
Our client is a well-established Sacramento law firm seeking a motivated Business & Construction Litigation Associate Business & Construction Litigation Associate
QUALIFICATIONS
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Active membership in the California State Bar
- Approximately 3-5 years of experience in civil, business, commercial, or related litigation
- Strong experience with depositions, motion practice, and trial preparation
- Construction litigation or construction law experience is a plus, but not required
- Experience drafting and negotiating contracts is preferred
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with business owners, contractors, and other clients
- Comfortable taking ownership of matters and working independently while collaborating with experienced attorneys
- Strong interest in developing courtroom and client-management skills
- Familiarity with AI tools such as Claude is a plus
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Handle business and construction disputes from initial complaint through settlement or trial
- Take and defend depositions
- Draft and argue motions
- Prepare cases for trial and participate in litigation strategy
- Communicate directly with clients and provide practical legal advice
- Represent business owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers, and other clients
- Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and other business agreements
- Advise clients regarding California licensing, payment, and compliance matters
- Manage assigned matters and take increasing ownership of cases
- Collaborate with senior attorneys and incorporate feedback to improve legal work and case strategy
