Accounts Receivable Manager

New York, NY (Hybrid – 3 days onsite / 2 days remote) About the Opportunity Our client, a well-established global importer and distributor of specialty food products, is seeking a Manager of Accounts Receivable to join their New York City office. This organization partners with customers across foodservice, retail, industrial, and international markets, offering a diverse portfolio of high-quality products sourced from over 40 countries. This role reports directly to the Director of Accounts Receivable and Trade Finance and oversees a team of four. It is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on leader with strong AR expertise and experience in high-volume, inventory-driven industries such as food, retail, or wholesale distribution . Key Responsibilities Collections & Cash Posting Management Lead and support the AR team responsible for collections, cash posting, and deductions/disputes Monitor team performance and develop KPIs and reporting metrics Escalate delinquent accounts in partnership with sales and customer service teams Oversee new customer setup and credit terms assessment Leadership & General Accounting Oversight Manage, mentor, and evaluate a team of four direct reports Lead external audits , including preparation of schedules and supporting documentation Identify and drive process improvements and system efficiencies Provide guidance on complex AR and accounting issues Prepare ad hoc financial analysis for management as needed Qualifications 5+ years of accounting experience with a strong focus on Accounts Receivable Prior management or supervisory experience (required) Hands‑on experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 (D365) Strong understanding of US GAAP and internal controls Experience with balance sheet reconciliations Background in high-volume, inventory-based industries (food, retail, wholesale, distribution, etc.) Preferred Experience with Tableau and/or Power BI Strong process improvement mindset leveraging systems and technology Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and organizational skills Strong communication skills with ability to lead and motivate a team What We’re Looking For A hands‑on leader who can own the AR function and develop a team Someone experienced in high-volume transaction environments A detail‑oriented professional who can balance operations, reporting, and leadership A proactive problem‑solver who drives efficiency and process improvement #J-18808-Ljbffr Ascendo Resources
