Registered Nurse Clinical Manager, PICU

Overview The Registered Nurse Clinical Manager provides clinical leadership and oversight for day‑to‑day patient care operations, staffing coordination and scheduling, operational staffing challenges, day‑to‑day operational oversight, and clinical support during night operations. The Clinical Manager directly supervises approximately 30‑40 staff members and is accountable for performance management, coaching, and maintaining high standards of patient care. Schedule Position is scheduled for straight night shifts: Four 10‑hour shifts per week, either 5:00 PM – 3:00 AM or 7:00 PM – 5:00 AM. Weekend call rotation required approximately every 5‑6 weeks. Job Responsibilities Leadership Provide programmatic leadership of the clinical component in assigned areas, develop and implement goals, standards, policies, educational programs, procedures and practices in alignment with the strategic plan. Monitor situations that affect daily operations and take appropriate actions. Participate in development, coaching and evaluation of department personnel. Mentor and provide learning and development opportunities for direct reports. Establish workforce communication approaches that represent Core Values and cultural competence. Ensure staff competence through appropriate training and practice oversight. Demonstrate consistent integration of the Interprofessional Practice Model (IPM) and shared governance practices. Demonstrate skill with interpersonal communication, presentations, written materials, and group facilitation. Hold self and others accountable for mutual professional expectations and outcomes. Compliance Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements and accreditation standards. Ensure quality and adherence through auditing and quality assurance approaches. Follow guidance of Directors for corrective action plans. Partner with department leaders of Center for Professional Excellence and Accreditation Services to improve staff performance, compliance and documentation. Ensure all reporting staff have required competence and education. Enhance relationships to promote interdisciplinary involvement and knowledge of compliance standards. Facilitate the knowledge and actions of employees with appropriate policies and standards of performance. Operations Serve as point of contact and resource for daily operations. Research and resolve operational questions and problems as they arise. Provide oversight and guidance in day‑to‑day patient staffing. Evaluate and adjust resource allocation based on patient needs and system factors. Establish and maintain procedures for orientation of new employees. Integrate annual operational goals into daily practice. Address problem trends, develop, plan and implement solutions to improve processes and workflow for individuals and systems. Project Management Provide leadership for the overall direction, coordination, implementation, and completion of specific projects. Align projects with organizational priorities and strategic plan. Develop project plans, resource allocation, and timelines. Manage day‑to‑day operational aspects of a project and scope. Direct assigned project team to ensure effective resource utilization. Report on progress to all stakeholders. Provide detailed organizational communication plans when clinical operations are impacted. Integrate principles of inclusion throughout projects and daily operations. Financial Management Engage with day‑to‑day operations that impact productivity. Conduct analysis and partner with others in resource allocation decisions. Develop, implement and evaluate the department's annual operating and capital budget. Analyze and monitor financial performance; assist in reporting of financial results. Evaluate variances, determine underlying causes, and establish proposed solutions. Job Qualifications • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) required

  • Minimum 3–5 years of registered nurse clinical experience
  • Active RN license in Ohio
  • Primary location Burnet Campus
  • Department PICU
  • Full‑time night shift (United States of America)
  • Employee status: Regular, FTE 1, Weekly Hours 40
  • Prior experience in pediatric critical care; PICU experience preferred
  • Demonstrated informal or emerging leadership experience (charge nurse responsibilities, precepting, or project team participation)
Pay Range Expected starting pay range: $100,526.40 – $130,686.40. Annualized pay may vary based on FTE status. Location Primary location: Burnet Campus. Department: PICU. Weekly hours: 40.
