The Role The Peer Support Program Team Lead supports peer-delivered services for adults and young adults with mental health challenges or exceptional mental health experiences. The Team Lead will be able to draw from their own personal experiences of mental health or life struggles as a way to connect deeply and authentically with community members. This position will supervise 3–5 team members and ensure the delivery of meaningful peer support in a variety of community settings. The Team Lead will provide day-to-day leadership for the program, independently address routine operational and staffing needs, and work in partnership with the Peer Support Program Manager on program development, quality, and larger program decisions. Supervised by: Peer Support Program Manager Supervising: 3–5 staff Available Positions: 1 Location: In-Person (Burlington VT) Schedule: Full-Time (35-40 Hours Weekly) Responsibilities Provide peer support to young adults and adults in Chittenden County who are experiencing mental health challenges, homelessness, or other exceptional experiences. Foster community and connection with community and staff members. Engage in peer support, connection, and resource referral in both individualized and group settings when appropriate. Meet community members where they are—whether in shelters, public spaces, or other community locations. Connect with and serve as a liaison to relevant community partners. Provide day-to-day leadership and coordination of program operations. Independently respond to routine staffing, scheduling, program, and operational needs, escalating larger or higher-impact decisions to the Peer Support Program Manager as appropriate. Lead and participate in staff meetings, co-reflection, and individual supervisions. Provide ongoing coaching, feedback, and support to staff and address performance or team concerns in collaboration with the Peer Support Program Manager when needed. Support onboarding, training, and continued development of program staff. Collection and evaluation of data and regular reporting. Monitor program data, participation, and community feedback and identify opportunities for improvement. Coordinate and oversee peer support groups. Support facilitators to ensure best practices and quality facilitation. Monitor participation and community feedback. Ensure groups offered best meet community needs and wants. Make recommendations and implement changes to groups, activities, outreach, and day-to-day programming based on community needs and feedback. Assist in creating outreach materials such as flyers, posters, stickers, and brochures. Build and maintain relationships with community partners and represent the program in community meetings and collaborative spaces as appropriate. Support consistent implementation of Intentional Peer Support and Pathways Vermont values throughout program activities and staff practice. Collaborate with the Peer Support Program Manager on program planning, priorities, quality improvement, and emerging program needs. Attend bi-monthly supervisor’s meetings, monthly all-staff meetings, bi-annual incident review, required training, and bi-annual all-staff retreats. Supervise 3–5 staff members with compassion and clarity. Other duties as assigned. Attendance at the annual All Staff and Programmatic Retreats is an expectation of employment with Pathways Vermont, unless excused by the employee’s manager/HR. Retreats are held on workdays, during normal working hours, and are fully paid. Requirements Integrity, credibility, and commitment to Pathways’ mission. Willingness and ability to connect with others from a peer perspective around mental health, homelessness, or other significant life challenges. Group facilitation experience preferred. Supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to network and establish partnerships. Ability to work independently and accurately collect and track data. Ability to exercise sound judgment, independently manage routine program needs, prioritize competing responsibilities, and know when additional leadership support is needed. Ability to provide clear direction, coaching, and feedback while maintaining a collaborative and peer-centered leadership approach. Smartphone and computer skills as well as familiarity with Google Suite. Trained in Intentional Peer Support Training (or commitment to be trained within 6 months of hiring). Potential flexibility in hours as determined by program needs assessment. Valid driver’s license (please note certain driving violations or DMV records may disqualify you from this position) and ability to drive a minivan.
