You will partner closely with Supplier Development Engineers (SDEs), Manufacturing, Engineering, Logistics, and Purchasing teams to evaluate product quality, disposition material, and support continuous improvement efforts. This role combines advanced auditing responsibilities with day-to-day leadership and mentorship of the quality inspection team to help maintain priorities, audit coverage, and operational excellence.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead incoming quality inspections and audits to ensure supplier-provided materials and components meet Caterpillar quality standards.

  • Manage Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including evaluating nonconforming material and coordinating disposition decisions.

  • Partner with Supplier Development Engineers (SDEs) to investigate supplier quality concerns, communicate inspection findings, and support corrective action activities.

  • Review and assess nonconforming products and materials, exercising sound judgment when determining disposition and containment actions.

  • Serve as the primary quality representative for supplier-related quality concerns and incoming material issues.

  • Support pre-delivery inspection activities to verify product quality and readiness prior to customer shipment.

  • Perform advanced product, process, and quality audits across multiple operational areas.

  • Provide coverage for Quality Inspector III responsibilities as needed to maintain business continuity and audit execution.

  • Mentor and support Quality Inspectors by providing guidance, sharing best practices, and helping maintain team performance objectives.

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve quality issues and drive continuous improvement.

  • Communicate quality trends, audit findings, and supplier concerns to cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Perform inspections and quality audits in both indoor and outdoor manufacturing environments, including exposure to changing temperatures and occasional inclement weather conditions.

  • Any other duties assigned by leadership.

What You Will Have:

  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow and interpret quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.

  • Experience working in a manufacturing or production environment.

  • Technical knowledge of product assembly, testing, manufacturing processes, and quality inspection methods.

  • Experience performing inspections, audits, or quality-related activities across multiple operational areas or work zones.

  • Ability to evaluate product quality issues and support disposition of nonconforming material.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Experience using torque measurement equipment, calipers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to changing business needs in a fast-paced environment.

What Will Put You Ahead:

  • Experience managing or participating in Material Review Board (MRB) processes.

  • Experience performing incoming quality inspections, supplier quality audits, or receiving inspections.

  • Experience supporting Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA) investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel.

  • Experience within the power systems, manufacturing, heavy equipment, or industrial products industry.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.

Physical Requirements:
