Risk Manager, Enterprise Risk ManagementThe ERM Risk Foundations team is seeking a highly motivated Risk Manager to apply their risk, communication, and analytical skills in support of our control testing and IRM control challenge team stakeholders. This position will play a key role in ERM’s control methodology program by driving growth in the control testing space for script based controls, including developing a governance framework, utilizing script control performance data to conduct analysis and providing stakeholder training and support. This role may also provide expertise in the automated, hybrid, and technology control governance approach.The Risk Manager will combine their knowledge of data languages, coding and risk management practices to drive the development of script related controls methodology and requirements. This individual will have opportunities to partner with their fellow control methodology program owners and key stakeholders to develop, implement and support our business areas’ adoption and application of the script and model control methodology.The ideal candidate must be able to effectively communicate to and influence large stakeholder groups across multiple functional areas and levels of the organization, fostering accountability and collaboration. The role requires a well-rounded individual who is comfortable providing clear, actionable recommendations to ensure our script based controls approach is being executed as intended, and exercise their skills in problem solving and critical thinking to continuously improve our practices.Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to, the following:Lead the maturity and growth of control methodology specific to script and model based automated and hybrid controlsCommunicate and socialize program requirements and expectations to a broad stakeholder group, engaging as appropriate for feedback and iterationDevelop and provide training, guidance and tools to support adoption and adherence to requirements for script and model based controlsServe as a subject matter expert on script and model based controls, performing in an advisory capacity to support stakeholders across the enterprisePartner with fellow second line functions to ensure seamless and consistent governance requirements across programsDrive consistent application of enterprise script and model control governance requirements; which includes acting as an advisor to those who test and challenge controls that leverage scriptsProvide periodic updates to leadership on the status of the program and overall enterprise approach to script and model based controlsSupport first line partners as a subject matter expert to ensure programs and initiatives meet the intent of the control methodology programMonitor, conduct quality assurance, and analyze data to proactively identify trends and improvement opportunities; partner with our business areas to resolve issues, escalating concerns as neededProvide challenge, expertise and advice on enhancing the design effectiveness and maturity of the company’s approach to testing and challenging technology based controlsStay current with industry trends for control testing of automated and hybrid controlsCoordinate program-related activities and deliverables to ensure effective collaboration within the team and across stakeholder groupsCollaborate effectively and build trusted relationships with colleagues, stakeholders, and leaders across multiple organizations to achieve objectivesCommunicate in a compelling manner to internal and external stakeholdersBasic Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree or military experienceAt least 5 years of experience working in risk management, audit, or complianceAt least 2 years of experience in control or process testing, monitoring or assurance related fields, such as auditing or quality assuranceAt least 1 year of experience working with at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, R, Spark, or SQL) and querying, analyzing and working with data languagesAt least 1 year of experience using Governance, Risk, and Compliance software toolsPreferred Qualifications:7+ years of experience working in risk management, audit, or formal quality assurance programs3+ years experience in control or process testing, monitoring or assurance related fields, such as auditing or quality assurance2+ years of experience working with at least one scripting language (e.g. Python, R, Spark, or SQL) and querying, analyzing and working with data languagesExperience working in the financial services industryProfessional certification in control, audit or process quality disciplinesExperience in responding to and interacting with internal audit and/or regulatory agenciesStrong subject matter expertise in controls development, controls management, controls testing, and reporting activitiesFamiliarity with Committee of Sponsoring Organizations (COSO)At this time Capital One will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position.The minimum and maximum full-time annual salaries for this role are listed below, by location. Please note that this salary information is solely for candidates hired to perform work within one of these locations, and refers to the amount Capital One is willing to pay at the time of this posting. Salaries for part-time roles will be prorated based upon the agreed upon number of hours to be regularly worked.McLean, VA: $146,100 - $166,700 for Risk ManagerRichmond, VA: $132,800 - $151,600 for Risk ManagerCandidates hired to work in other locations will be subject to the pay range associated with that location, and the actual annualized salary amount offered to any candidate at the time of hire will be reflected solely in the candidate’s offer letter. This role is also eligible to earn performance based incentive compensation, which may include cash bonus(es) and/or long term incentives (LTI).
