EMT - Emergency Medical Services (24 Hours) (PRN)

EMT Position

The EMT will be responsible for providing Basic Life Support (BLS) patient care and ambulance transportation.

Education:

High School Diploma or GED

Licenses and Certifications:

Driver's License

EMT - B

Healthcare Provider (CPR)

Qualifications:

Knowledge: -Emergency clinical practices, procedures, and protocol

Technical Skills: -Diagnosing and treating patients -Exercising judgment, dexterity, and physical coordination -Preparing clear and concise reports -Driving emergency vehicles

Behavioral and Physical Skills: -Act calmly and quickly in emergencies -Work independently as part of a team, sometimes alongside emergency fire and police units -Create and maintain a positive and cooperative working environment in stressful situations -Work during odd hours and for extended periods of time, sometimes outdoors and in adverse weather conditions -Work with much standing, bending, and kneeling -Work with a partner in lifting patients whose weight occasionally exceeds 200 pounds -Avoid or minimize health risks from exposure to ill patients.

Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain an acceptable motor vehicle record. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a motor vehicle record (MVR) check and meeting insurability requirements. A minimum of two (2) years of driving experience is required.

Current Georgia EMT-B license required.

Provides emergency and non-emergency ambulance operation in conjunction with a partner, demonstrating excellent driving judgement and due to regard for public safety during operation and positioning of unit.

Responds to all assigned calls in the most appropriate, safe, and efficient manner to quickly assess the scene and request other help if needed.

Provides BLS patient care in accordance with established procedures and prescribe local protocols and clinical guidelines. Diagnoses and treats patients with appropriate techniques, resources, and equipment.

May work with a Paramedic in an ALS operation, providing overall care in the areas of patient assessment, packaging and transport.

Completes appropriate medical records and transportation reports.

Maintains a thorough working knowledge of current EMT standards to care, including equipment and use.

Maintains a thorough working knowledge of local geography, including mapping, street, and grid book systems.

Maintains units and equipment in a clean, organized and ready condition after each response.

Ensures proper fuel, fluid, and tire pressure levels at all times. Reports equipment damage or malfunction as prescribed.

Completes all station duties and maintains crew quarters in neat and serviceable conditions.

Employee performs within the prescribed limits of Tanner Health System's Ethics and Compliance program. Is responsible to detect, observe, and report compliance variances to their immediate supervisor, the Compliance Officer, or the Hotline.

Education: High School Diploma or GED

Experience: No prior work experience required.
