Job Description & Requirements Specialty: Med Surg Discipline: RN Start Date: 09/28/2026 Duration: 13 weeks 36 hours per week Shift: 12 hours, days Employment Type: Travel Title: RN – Medical Surgical Location: Springfield, IL 62702 Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day 3x12-Hour (06:45 AM – 07:15 PM) Requirements: Minimum 2 years of RN experience Active IL RN license in hand required BLS required PICC line management experience required Experience starting and maintaining IVs required Med/Surg experience Cerner experience preferred IV therapy/phlebotomy Blood product administration Colostomy/ileostomy and feeding tube care Continuous Bladder Irrigation (CBI) PCA management Surgical drain care Wound care/Wound Vac experience Must be willing to care for tracheostomy and laryngectomy patients; prior experience not required, but willingness to learn is required Must be willing to float within scope Must be willing to work up to a 1:7 patient ratio when needed First-time travelers accepted Locals accepted with no mileage restriction Description: Med/Surg RN position on a 24-bed General Surgery unit within an acute care, Level I Trauma and Magnet facility. Patient population includes adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients. Responsibilities include dressing changes, drain management/removal, NG tube insertion, central line dressing changes, tracheostomy/laryngectomy suctioning, ostomy care, urinary catheter insertion, suprapubic catheter changes, CBI, and blood transfusions. No on-call requirement. No block scheduling. Weekend rotation: Every other weekend. If RTO falls on a scheduled weekend, an additional weekend will be assigned to maintain the rotation. Client may call off up to 36 hours during the 13-week assignment without compensation.
