Department and Shift Scotland Memorial Hospital – Nursing Float Pool. Full time. Shift: 3rd (United States of America). Schedule Details Education & Requirements: Graduate of accredited nursing program Certification/Licensure (including annual requirements) Current NC or Multistate RN licensure Current BLS OAcls certification Skills & Competencies Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal. Diplomacy, tact, and a positive approach to problem solving. Organizational skills. Fosters a teamwork environment. Ability to communicate with patients, customers, other departments, and staff in an articulate and professional manner. Computer (Electronic Medical Record) charting. Job Responsibilities Stay current with best practice and advancements in endoscopy and gastroenterology nursing. Ensure that proper technique and practice are used according to accepted standards. Supervise other personnel in the room and direct or assist as necessary. Ensure care of patient through proper identification, checking of chart and reporting changes in condition. Ascertain that consent form is accurate and properly signed prior to procedure. Ensure proper body alignment throughout procedure. Have all supplies and equipment in room with equipment checks completed before procedure to ensure it is in working condition. Cares for specimens and cultures according to policy and procedure. Completes documentation and charges. Accompanies patient to patient care unit and reports to nurse on patient procedure and special happenings. Interview patient prior to procedure to facilitate knowledge of patient, assess condition and needs. Prepare supplies and organize materials with respect to special needs of patient and procedure. Age Specific Competency: Staff members will have knowledge of human growth and development through the lifespan of the patient and the ability to meet the needs of and provide the care of these patients. The age categories to be included are: Adolescence 13‑17 yrs; Young Adult/Adult 18‑64 yrs; Adult/Middle‑Aged 65‑79 yrs; Geriatric 80+ yrs. Performs duties as assigned by surgical services leadership. Responds promptly to patient needs and concerns.
