DIRECTOR OF NURSING
Morningstar Residential Care Center – Oswego, NY
NEW SALARY RATE! $110,000 - $130,000

Morningstar Residential Care Center is seeking an experienced and compassionate Director of Nursing to lead our nursing department and support the delivery of exceptional, resident-centered care.

The DON will provide clinical leadership, oversee nursing operations and foster a positive, collaborative environment where residents and employees feel respected, supported and valued. This position is ideal for a hands-on nursing leader who is committed to clinical excellence, staff development and continuous quality improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead, supervise and support the nursing department
• Ensure residents receive high-quality, compassionate and individualized care
• Oversee nursing practices, care planning and clinical documentation
• Maintain compliance with federal, state and local healthcare regulations
• Develop, implement and evaluate nursing policies and procedures
• Recruit, orient, mentor and retain nursing employees
• Coordinate ongoing education, competencies and professional development
• Monitor staffing levels and collaborate with scheduling and facility leadership
• Participate in quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives
• Promote infection prevention, resident safety and survey readiness
• Review clinical outcomes and develop appropriate improvement plans
• Address resident, family and employee concerns professionally and promptly
• Collaborate with physicians, rehabilitation professionals and interdisciplinary team members
• Foster a culture of teamwork, accountability, communication and respect

Qualifications

• Current New York State Registered Professional Nurse license
• Previous nursing leadership or management experience required
• Long-term care, skilled nursing or residential healthcare experience preferred
• Excellent leadership, communication and organizational skills
• Commitment to resident-centered care and employee development
