Pediatric Nurse Practitioner - Pediatric General Surgery and Trauma

Position Overview:
This role is designated for night shifts, consisting of three 13-hour shifts each week.

The Pediatric Surgery Nurse Practitioner (NP) team primarily offers inpatient care for patients undergoing general surgery, both before and after their procedures. This team collaborates closely with pediatric surgery fellows and surgical residents during their pediatric rotations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide overnight support for the pediatric general surgery and trauma teams.
• Implement care plans established during daytime hours.
• Enter medical orders and serve as the main point of contact for nursing staff and family inquiries.
• Assist in documentation and note writing as necessary.
• Facilitate patient discharges and manage consults and direct admissions.
• Respond to trauma cases as required and admit patients suspected of non-accidental trauma.
• Adapt to evolving responsibilities and coverage hours as the NP team expands and resident coverage fluctuates.

Qualifications:
The ideal candidate will possess acute care training with a focus on pediatrics or relevant experience in an inpatient pediatric setting. Previous experience in pediatric inpatient care is essential for success in this position. We seek an individual who is detail-oriented, adaptable, possesses strong communication and interpersonal skills, and is enthusiastic about joining our dynamic Pediatric Surgery NP team.

Certification Requirement:
This position requires a PA-C certification.
