Overview Direct Production (DP) covers the overall manufacturing operations of Nokia. It includes directing and monitoring the business\'s operational processes concerning production, man and machinery performance, maintenance, and related cost controls, quality, and packaging tasks. Nokia Corporation in Sunnyvale, CA operates a wafer fab that conducts R&D and production of indium phosphide (InP) photonic integrated circuit (PIC) semiconductor chips. The wafer fab operates 24x7 and offers opportunities to improve quality and reduce defects in fab processes. Nokia\'s fab processes include photolithography, wet etch, plasma etch, metal deposition, and chemical vapor deposition. Integration engineers and technicians contribute to advancing performance and yield for current and future high-speed optical networking semiconductor devices. Responsibilities Troubleshoot challenging performance and yield issues in the wafer fab Investigate root causes for lots placed on hold Assist with engineering tool qualifications Provide support for engineers with failure analysis (visual inspections, CD-SEM work, electrical IV sweeps, profilometer depth measurements, etc.) Utilize Manufacturing Engineering System (MES) software to support integration engineering activities (data collection, basic data analysis, generating reports) Review SPC charts and provide initial responses for out-of-control events Coordinate movement of qual and development lots through fab, assembly, and test areas Help assure compliance with the PIC product quality system Work hours: Weekend shift with a compressed work week. Typical schedule: Friday, Saturday, Sunday and alternating Thursday, 6:00 AM – 6:00 PM. Time-and-a-half overtime for the last 3 and hours each day; 15% shift differential for weekend shifts At least 3 years of experience in a modern semiconductor fab or other manufacturing facility with a strong quality emphasis; 5+ years preferred Strong focus on quality and attention to detail Eager to learn and expand skill set Strong follow-up, problem-solving ability, and drive Ownership of tasks and projects Team player with good verbal and written communication Ability to organize data and manage multiple projects and deadlines Proficiency in using computer software to analyze and review complex data Indium phosphide or gallium arsenide experience is a plus but not required Willing to work in a clean room environment (semiconductor fab) Ability to perform wafer inspections and failure analysis using metrology tool sets (CD-SEM, microscope, profilometer, FLM) and other methods Ability to make engineering decisions under minimum supervision What We Offer Nokia offers continuous learning opportunities, well-being programs, opportunities to join and be supported by employee resource groups, mentoring programs, and highly diverse teams with an inclusive culture where people thrive and are empowered.
