Job Title: ICU Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: ICU (Intensive Care Unit) Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12H Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years of experience required License: Current and valid RN license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Candidates may not be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any associated facility. Description: Candidates must adhere to the fingernail policy; artificial nails are prohibited in departments providing patient care. Failure to comply will lead to termination of the contract. A valid driver's license is required for submission. The department requires RNs to pass a pass/fail exam during orientation. This exam is open book, covering skills learned during training. A score of 90% is required to pass; otherwise, termination will occur. Nurse to patient ratios are as follows: 1:2 in the ICU, 1:5 for medical patients, and 1:4 in PCU. Common diagnoses and types of patients include COPD, pneumonia, CVA, TIA, DKA, sepsis, CHF, STEMI, and neuro. RNs are required to titrate drips, including vasopressors, insulin, TNK, heparin, IV antibiotics, and sedatives. There is a charge nurse on each shift who also takes assignments. Patient care techs are present in the unit, with 1 tech until reaching 20 patients and 2 techs for up to 24 patients. Critical care coverage is available 24/7, including telehealth support. RNs are required to troubleshoot vents and BiPAPs. RNs must read and interpret their own telemetry strips. Shifts are scheduled from 0630 to 1900 and 1830 to 0700. The unit scheduler manages the scheduling process. Weekend requirements include coverage every other weekend, with holiday requirements varying based on unit needs. RNs may float to PCU and medical floors as needed. The dress code consists of navy blue scrubs. Only 7 or fewer days of RTO are allowed upfront for a 13-week contract. Additional RTO will not be approved after submission. The hospital reserves the right to cancel up to 4 shifts during the 13-week assignment. Charting is to be completed using the EPIC system. A BSN is not required for this position. This position is situated in an acute care setting. The trauma level is classified as level 2.
