Position Information Position Number: 001196 Working Title: Assistant Director for Financial Literacy Department: Dean of Students (Adm) Primary Purpose of Position The Assistant Director for Financial Literacy will engage in the success of the Niner Finances Peer Program, contributing to the success of student employees, called Financial Wellness Coaches. The Assistant Director will also be responsible for campus-wide programmatic efforts, and will provide one-on-one financial literacy counseling and coaching with the goal of increasing student efficacy in making sound financial decisions by increasing students’ knowledge and understanding of financial literacy concepts. The Assistant Director will assist in maintaining, developing and deploying programming collaborations with academic colleges and other campus departments, creating new partnerships not already in progress, and will handle highly confidential information. The Assistant Director will assist and support students in navigating the financial complexities related to higher education and professional lives. Summary of Position Responsibilities The Assistant Director for Financial Literacy (AD) reports directly to the Director of Financial Literacy in Niner Finances. The AD will assist in the implementation and ongoing management of a comprehensive student Financial Literacy Program. The AD will operate within and deliver programming efforts to include online learning, workshops, presentations, one-on-one education, and coaching/counseling for students across the student life cycle from orientation to degree completion. The AD will interface with faculty, administrators, staff, students, parents, and community members. The AD will collaborate with campus partners to promote financial wellness for students around the issues of financial literacy. The AD will be responsible for creative programming to reach targeted student populations in response to periodic student surveys. The AD will recruit and supervise student leaders within the department. The AD is responsible for maintaining spreadsheets that track appointments, incentive distributions, and student participation and outcomes for programs such as VITA and Rainy Day Savings, as well as monitoring and reporting progress toward departmental goals. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Education, Counseling/Psychology or related field and minimum of 2 years of experience in either teaching financial literacy and wellbeing or oversight of a Peer Program, student employment, or student leadership development. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Education, Counseling/Psychology or related field. Minimum of 2 years of experience in either teaching financial literacy and wellbeing or oversight of a Peer Program, student employment, or student leadership development. Preferred Education, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Master’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Education, Counseling/Psychology or related field and two – three years of post‑graduate professional work experience in higher education. One – three years of experience in financial literacy/education or financial counseling/coaching, with knowledge of financial literacy issues and standards as well as an understanding of financial aid. Strong communication, listening, coaching, and mentoring skills, with a focus on student support, education and advocacy. Ability to manage comprehensive financial literacy programs and develop innovative strategies for financial well‑being. Highly organized with the ability to build relationships across campus, handle multiple projects, and exercise good judgment and discretion in analyzing and resolving confidential and sensitive situations with minimal supervision. Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Excel at an intermediate level , including building and maintaining spreadsheets using formulas, functions, and pivot tables to organize, analyze, and summarize data. Ability to interpret data trends and produce reports for decision‑making purposes. Certifications and Licenses Financial Coaching certification required within the first 90 days for candidates lacking financial well‑being experience/education.
