The salary for this position starts at $58,892. We take into consideration an individual's background and experience in determining salary; therefore, base pay offered may vary considerably depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. The compensation package includes a wide range of other benefits and earned time off that vary depending on part-time or full-time status.

1. Job Summary:
The Senior Accountant performs specialized professional accounting work of moderate difficulty, including report preparation and reconciliation for all contributed revenue, government contracts and related accounts and accounting administration of the Raiser's Edge contributed revenue system. Other responsibilities will include administrative support for grant billings, individual endowment fund tracking, balance sheet and fixed income fund account reconciliations and year-end audit and association level reporting.


2. Essential Functions:

• Provide comprehensive fiscal knowledge, accounting support, financial reporting, and technical assistance to branches, departments and/or programs.
• Provide the accounting administration for the Raiser's Edge contributed revenue system, including account coding of all transactions, reconciliation of all financial data and appropriately posting all financial transactions to the General Ledger.
• Prepare and distribute monthly billings and reports for grants, government contracts, contributions and individual endowment funds for both internal and external use.
• Reconcile balance sheet and fixed income fund accounts and prepare audit schedules for various accounts.
• Develops financial policies and procedures, creating consistencies, efficiencies and implementing best practices.

3. Relationships:

This position reports to the Controller who reports to the Vice President of Finance. The incumbent provides the Association with finance/accounting support and interacts regularly with Branch Executives, Program Directors and other Association Staff.
4. Qualifications:
Required

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of four (4) plus years of related accounting experience.
• In depth understanding of accounting principles, methods, and applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent organizational skills along with an attention to detail.
• Ability to prioritize workload and manage multiple tasks with conflicting deadlines.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Proficient user of the Microsoft Office suite and spreadsheet preparation.

Preferred

• Experience with Microsoft Great Plains and Raiser's Edge software.
• Experience with improving and streamlining business practices.
• Experience working in non-profit accounting.
• Experience in project management.

5. Work Conditions:

• Must be able to work on a computer for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to travel locally for meeting, training and events.
