Job Description Position Title: NDT Lvl II Inspector\n \n \nDepartment: Modules Division - Quality Assurance\n \n \nLocation: Lockport, LA\n \n \nPosition Summary\n \n \nThis position ensures that Trident's products meet all NAVSEA, Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS), and Trident QA standards through precise, disciplined inspection and documentation practices. The Inspector demonstrates strong self-leadership, motivation, and accountability, upholding the highest level of professionalism within the QA department. The NDT Inspector performs Visual Testing (VT & VT Level II), Magnetic Particle (MT), Liquid Penetrant (PT), and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspections across ship structures and modular fabrications supporting CVN, VCS/ORP, and DDG programs. This position supports both new construction and overhaul efforts across in-harbor production, shipyard projects, and unit completion evaluations, ensuring compliance, documentation integrity, and inspection readiness.\n \n \nResponsibilities:\n \n• Perform VT (Visual Testing) and VT Level II inspections on welds, components, and structures to verify conformance with NAVSEA and NNS standards.\n \n• Conduct MT (Magnetic Particle), PT (Liquid Penetrant), and UT (Ultrasonic Testing) inspections in accordance with Trident QA procedures.\n \n• Review, interpret, and execute inspection procedures, standards, and engineering drawings.\n \n• Document inspection results and maintain OQE records in compliance with NAVSEA/NNS requirements.\n \n• Support QC efforts during unit completion evaluations to ensure quality readiness for customer acceptance.\n \n• Provide in-process inspection support during fitting, welding, and final assembly operations.\n \n• Identify and document nonconformities, support corrective actions, and verify re-inspection activities.\n \n• Maintain certification and calibration records for inspection equipment and personnel qualifications.\n \n• Coordinate with QA/QC management and production teams to ensure inspection readiness and schedule alignment.\n \n• Support continuous improvement initiatives and uphold Trident's commitment to quality excellence.\n \n \nShift:\n \n \nMultiple shifts available - flexibility required to support inspection and production operations across all shifts and sites.\n \n \nRequirements:\n \n• U.S. Citizenship required.\n \n• High School Diploma or GED.\n \n• Minimum 5-7 years of NDT experience within shipyard or heavy industrial environments supporting NAVSEA or NNS programs.\n \n• Must hold or be able to obtain NDT Level II certification in Visual Testing (VT II), with proven experience in Magnetic Particle (MT) and Ultrasonic Testing (UT) inspection methods per NAVSEA Technical Publication T9074-AS-GIB-010/271.\n \n• Demonstrated proficiency in performing and interpreting MT and UT inspections in production settings.\n \n• Familiarity with ISO, NAVSEA QA documentation and OQE practices.\n \n• Ability to read blueprints, weld symbols, and technical drawings accurately.\n \n• Capable of working in confined spaces, elevated areas, and lifting up to 50 lbs.\n \n• Skilled in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).\n \n• Excellent communication, analytical, and documentation skills.\n \n \nLeadership & Professional Expectations:\n \n• Exhibit consistent self-leadership, integrity, and motivation, setting the standard for quality performance and professionalism.\n \n• Uphold Trident Maritime Systems' values and lead by example in safety, discipline, and work ethic.\n \n• Demonstrate accountability for inspection accuracy, timeliness, and cross-department communication.\n \n• Foster teamwork between QA, Production, and Engineering to proactively identify and resolve quality concerns.\n \n• Take ownership of personal certification advancement, ongoing training, and compliance with QA procedures.\n \n• Represent Trident Maritime Systems with professionalism and pride during customer and source inspections.\n \n \nPreferred Qualifications\n \n• 5+ years Experience with welding processes such as SMAW, GTAW, and GMAW.\n \n• Technical or trade education related to NDT or welding technology.\n \n• Direct experience supporting CVN, VCS/ORP, or DDG naval shipbuilding programs.
