Employment Status: Full time | Shift: Any Day, Any Shift (United States of America) | Facility: 1906 Belleview Ave SE - Roanoke | Requisition Number: R153797 Job Overview The LPN (inpatient) practices practical nursing within the parameters set forth in Carilion Clinics' Plans for the Provision of Patient Care and functions under the direction of a registered nurse or physician. Partners with the RN in collecting data, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient/resident care; participates in the nursing process for patients of all ages; communicates frequently with team members, ancillary departments, and physicians; contributes to the development of the patient/resident database and interdisciplinary plan of care; identifies patient/resident/family/caregiver educational needs, incorporates education into the plan of care, and documents; applies knowledge of growth and development to appropriately care for patients/residents; implements prescribed therapeutic treatment plans and procedures; administers prescribed medication; advocates for patients, protects patient rights, and provides psychological, social, and cultural support; contributes to Carilion's performance improvement activities; and supports orientation and career development of others, assigning tasks as needed. Responsibilities Practice practical nursing under RN or physician direction. Collect, plan, implement, and evaluate patient/resident care. Participate in the nursing process for patients of all ages. Communicate with team, ancillary departments, and physicians. Contribute to patient/resident database and interdisciplinary care plans. Identify and incorporate educational needs into care plans. Apply knowledge of growth and development. Implement therapeutic treatment plans and procedures. Administer prescribed medication. Advocate for patient rights and provide psychosocial support. Support performance improvement activities. Assist in orientation and career development of staff. Assign tasks as needed. Qualifications Graduate of an accredited school of practical nursing. Licensed to practice practical nursing in the state of Virginia. No prior experience required. Must complete de‑escalation training within four months of hire and maintain it thereafter. Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development principles and ability to collect and interpret patient data.
