Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented Rotary Die Cutter Operator for 2nd Shift. You will set up, operate, and maintain rotary die-cutting equipment, overseeing finishing from material setup to final product while ensuring high quality, minimal waste, and safety.

Key Responsibilities

• Setup & Operation: Read job tickets, specs, and layout proofs. Gather substrates, cylinders, and dies. Install rotary cylinders, adjust magnetic plate stations, and calibrate web tension, pressure, and cut depth.

• Quality Control: Continuously monitor cut depth and matrix stripping. Check die clearance, perforation quality, and registration with precision tools (calipers, loupes). Correct defects like partial cuts or adhesive bleed.

• Material & Inventory: Safely load/unload substrate rolls on unwind/rewind stands. Organize and store dies in racks. Track consumables and report low stock or worn tooling.

• Safety & Hygiene: Follow company safety rules, PPE mandates, and hygiene standards. Keep workstations and storage clean and organized.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Technical/vocational training in mechanics or manufacturing is a plus.

• Experience: 1–3 years setting up and operating rotary die-cutting or web-converting machinery.

• Technical Skills: Solid mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting. Ability to use precision measurement tools and apply basic math (metric/imperial).

Responsibilities

Machine Setup & Operation

• Read job tickets, work orders, specs, and layout proofs.

• Gather substrates, cylinders, and flexible/solid dies for runs.

• Mount rotary die cylinders and adjust magnetic plate stations.

• Calibrate web tension, impression pressure, clearance, and die-cut depth.

Quality Control & Inspection

• Monitor die-cutting quality, matrix stripping, and cut depth.

• Inspect die clearance, perforation quality, and registration using calipers, micrometers, and loupes.

• Identify and correct defects like partial cuts, adhesive bleed, or missing labels.

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Perform routine preventative maintenance on die units, bearers, and anvils.

• Clean die stations between jobs and properly care for magnetic cylinders and dies.

• Troubleshoot mechanical, web-tension, or matrix issues to minimize downtime and scrap.

Safety & Workplace Hygiene

• Follow company safety rules, PPE mandates, and hygiene standards.

• Keep die-cutting area, tool storage, and equipment clean and organized.
