Degree in American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreting, certified ASL Interpreter credentials, and 1+ year of experience as an ASL Interpreter in educational settings. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
A rewarding contract opportunity awaits skilled Sign Language Interpreters eager to make a difference in the lives of students. Positions are available in schools near Round Lake, IL, supporting either high school (9th–12th grades) or elementary/middle school students (Kindergarten–8th grades). These roles are essential in fostering accessible learning environments and enhancing communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid EIPA Score of 3.5 or higher (proof required)
- Experience interpreting in an educational setting
- Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL)
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with educators, students, and support staff
- Commitment to confidentiality and educational best practices
- Willingness to work onsite only (remote/support is not offered)
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide direct sign language interpretation in classroom and school activities
- Adjust interpreting approaches for varied age groups, class sizes, and academic subjects
- Foster a supportive, inclusive environment conducive to learning
- Collaborate with teachers and support staff to address student needs
- Attend required training and professional development as scheduled
- Serve as a communication bridge within the educational team
Available Assignments:
- High School: 35 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 8:00am–3:30pm, August 10, 2026–May 20, 2027; caseload approximately 12 students
- Elementary/Middle School: 35 hours/week, Monday–Friday, 8:15am–3:45pm, August 17, 2026–May 28, 2027; caseload approximately 30 students
