The Chief Lending Officer is a strategic leader who balances driving profitable lending growth with managing credit risk, ensuring compliance, and delivering high-quality customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lending Strategy & Policy : Develop, implement, and review lending strategies, policies, and procedures to support profitability and compliance
  • Loan Portfolio Management : Oversee & manage the growth, quality, and performance of the loan portfolio, including commercial, residential, consumer, and other loan types
  • Loan Approval & Administration : Direct the loan approval process, review loan documentation, and manage delinquent loans
  • Interest Rates & Pricing : Coordinate with the CEO & CFO to set competitive yet profitable interest rates and fees
  • Technology & Process Improvement : Implement technological solutions and operational efficiencies to streamline lending processes and reporting
  • Team Leadership : Lead, mentor, and develop a lending team, providing training and career development opportunities
  • Regulatory Compliance : Represent the lending department in audits and examinations, ensuring adherence to all applicable laws and regulations
  • Client Relations : Maintain strong relationships with key clients, negotiating terms and conditions to enhance satisfaction and retention
  • Reporting : Provide regular performance reports to senior management and the board on lending activities, risk exposure, and portfolio quality

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience : Typically 10+ years in the financial industry, with a strong background in lending, credit analysis, and risk management
  • Analytical Skills : Ability to analyze complex financial data and market trends to inform lending decisions
  • Leadership : Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage teams and collaborate across departments
  • Regulatory Knowledge : Deep understanding of lending regulations and compliance requirements

Minimum Requirements:

  • Minimum 7 years banking experience in lending, loan processing or loan operations
  • Knowledge of federal and state banking laws and regulations relating to consumer lending
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, and/or commensurate work experience
