Director (Principal Scientist), Clinical Research, Respiratory

Merck seeks a Clinical Director (Principal Scientist) to plan and direct clinical research activities for cardiovascular and respiratory medicines across all development phases. The role involves study design, medical oversight, data analysis, regulatory reporting, and collaboration with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities
- Design clinical trials and collaborate on operational plans aligned with development strategy
- Provide medical oversight and conduct of ongoing or new clinical trials for investigational or marketed drugs
- Analyze and summarize clinical findings to support safety, efficacy, and regulatory decisions
- Participate in cross-functional project teams and support business development assessments
- Author development documents, presentations, and position papers; travel approximately 20% of the time
Requirements
- M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. degree
- Minimum 3 years clinical medicine experience
- Minimum 1 year industry drug development or academic biomedical research experience
- Demonstrated scientific scholarship and publication record
- Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills
- Board certification or eligibility in pulmonology, cardiology, or related discipline (preferred)
- Prior clinical research experience and track record of publication (preferred)
Compensation: $255,800–$402,700 base
