Public Health Nurse III-(Posting # 6111039-2914)

Overview The primary purpose of this position is to coordinate Tuberculosis activities for the control of the spread of TB in Halifax County. Responsibilities Project program needs, compile information for budget recommendations, and remain within budget allocated to the program. Maintain thorough knowledge of prevention, mode of transmission, screening techniques, new drug therapy, side effects of drugs, and case management of TB patients and contacts. Review notifications from doctors and referrals on all patients. Visit hospitalized patients and review charts when possible. Advise and provide basic health teaching to patients about prevention and detection of TB. Follow up on Communicable Diseases, manage the Respiratory Protection Plan, and fit‑test all employees. Oversee pharmacy management and inventory of TB medications. Work in clinic and community shelters as needed and perform other duties as required. Qualifications Any combination of education and experience equivalent to graduation from a four‑year college or university with a B.S. in Nursing that includes a Public Health Nursing rotation and two years of Public Health Nursing experience; OR Master’s in Public Health and graduation from a school of professional nursing and two years of professional nursing experience; OR graduation from a school of professional nursing and three years of professional nursing experience, including two years of Public Health nursing experience. A current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in North Carolina. An appropriate driver’s license valid in the State of NC. Benefits Non‑refundable signing bonus of $3,750 paid in the first paycheck following employment and execution of the Employment Signing and Retention Bonus Agreement. Retention bonus of $3,750 paid in the next paycheck following completion of 12 full months of employment in the same position with the county.
