About This Role

Walnut Grove Children's Learning Center is looking for a teacher for our afterschool/schoolage program who can help create innovative lesson plans and enhance the learning environment for our students. The ideal candidate for this position enjoys working with children and is dedicated to creating a nurturing and positive atmosphere for every student. If you have previous experience working in an early childhood center or with groups of school-aged children and are interested in joining our growing team, we encourage you to apply.

What You'll Do

• Teaching/Supervising a class of children in a manner consistent with the philosophy and goals of the center
• Meeting the school bus, taking attendance and notifying Director of absences
• Being responsible for the learning environment in the classroom
• Assisting with homework completion, during the school year
• Planning and carrying out group activities such as games, art activities, etc.
• Maintaining strict confidentiality regarding children and their families
• Maintaining professional conduct and attitudes in working with parents and staff as well as visitors and the general public
• Promote a positive environment in the classroom and the center
• Using the Brightwheel app appropriately
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Knowledge of child development and a dedication to continuing to learn new information to provide a quality learning environment for children
• Interpersonal and communication skills (including oral and written expression and comprehension skills)
• Organizational, planning and execution skills (including time management skills)
• Problem solving abilities and critical thinking
• CPR, First Aid
