Details Acute care hospital setting with a Level 2 trauma designation 30-bed Cardiac ICU unit Patient ratios of 1:1-2, with 90% of assignments at 1:2 Charge nurse staffed on unit and does not carry a patient assignment No nurse aides on the unit Uses Cerner EMR GE telemetry monitors and ventilators used on unit Hospitalist coverage 24/7, Respiratory Therapy 24/7, and Pharmacy 24/7 available No dedicated IV team on unit 12-hour night shifts on an every-other-weekend rotation Self-scheduling process with schedules built about six weeks out, finalized by the manager Required to float to any telemetry or med-surg unit and considered first to float Requirements Active CA RN license required BLS and ACLS certification required NIHSS certification required PALS certification preferred Minimum 2 years of RN experience required BSN not required for this position Recent hands-on experience with fresh open heart patients required Experience with mixed ICU patient populations required Must pass a proctored Dysrhythmia exam onsite on day one (pass/fail) Copy of driver's license required for consideration Two professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months worked and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years worked, including employment dates and rehire eligibility Additional Information Deliver critical care nursing services to cardiac ICU patients, including post-op fresh open heart cases Complete one day of unit-specific orientation Navy scrub color required No holiday coverage currently required, though this may change Facility may cancel up to 4 shifts over a 13-week assignment Candidates previously employed directly (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit-affiliated facility, including CHI and Dignity, within the past year are not eligible; PRN employment through outside staffing firms is acceptable American Traveler Job ID P-749572.
