Join Our Dynamic Emergency Room Team!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12-Hour Nights (7 PM - 7 AM)
- Department: Emergency Room
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- PALS
- NIHSS
- TNCC
- (NRP Preferred)


- Radius Rule:
- 50 miles
- Candidates cannot be full-time, part-time, or PRN with any facility associated with CommonSpirit (including CHI and/or Dignity)

- Unit Highlights:
- Level I Trauma Center
- Pediatric Certified by State
- Comprehensive Stroke Center
- 20 Beds, 5 Trauma Bays, 10 OBS, and hallway beds
- Fast Track: 6 beds
- Separate Triage Area: 3 triage beds

- Patient Care:
- Security: In-house 24/7
- Ratios:
- 1:4 in zones
- 1:6 in Fast Track
- 1:5 in OBS
- 1:1 in ICU/Trauma
- Common Diagnoses: Trauma, Sepsis, Chest Pain, SOB, Strokes
- Common Drips: All standard drips found in level 1 trauma ERs

- Team Structure:
- ED Physicians and Mid-Levels on staff
- Charge Nurse on each shift
- Nurse Aids/EMT/Paramedics/Patient Sitters:
- 1:10 in OBS
- 1:20 in main ED
- Tele/Monitor Techs available; RNs required to read their own strips

- Shifts & Scheduling:
- Multiple shifts: 0700-1900, 0900-2100, 1100-2300, 1500-0300, 1900-0700
- Leadership handles scheduling
- Weekend and holiday requirements vary based on department needs
- Floating to OBS unit and Freestanding Creighton ER at least once a week

- Orientation:
- 1 week of onboarding and shift-specific training.

- Additional Notes:
- Fast-paced, high-acuity environment.
- RTO (Request Time Off) needed upfront (7 or fewer days per 13-week contract); additional RTO will not be approved post-submission.
