Director of Software Engineer

We are seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Software Engineering to lead our engineering teams in designing, developing, and delivering scalable, reliable, and high-quality software solutions. The ideal candidate will combine strong technical expertise with proven leadership skills to drive engineering strategy, manage development teams, and align technology initiatives with business objectives. This role will oversee the software development lifecycle, promote engineering excellence, and foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Responsibilities: Define and execute the software engineering strategy, technical roadmap, and development priorities in alignment with business goals. Lead, mentor, and develop engineering managers, team leads, and software engineers. Oversee the architecture, design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of scalable software systems. Establish engineering standards, coding practices, code review processes, and quality assurance procedures. Collaborate with product management, design, operations, and business stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions. Drive the adoption of modern software development practices, CI/CD pipelines, automation, and cloud technologies. Monitor engineering performance, delivery timelines, system reliability, and software quality metrics. Manage engineering resources, project schedules, budgets, and staffing plans. Identify technical risks, architectural challenges, and opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, and security. Promote a culture of accountability, innovation, knowledge sharing, and continuous learning. Communicate technical strategy, project progress, risks, and outcomes to senior leadership and other stakeholders. Support recruitment, performance management, career development, and succession planning for engineering teams. Qualifications: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field. Significant professional experience in software engineering, including experience leading engineering teams and managing technical initiatives. Demonstrated experience managing engineering managers, team leads, or multiple software development teams. Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, APIs, databases, and scalable application design. Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS, Microsoft Azure, or Google Cloud. Knowledge of modern programming languages, software development frameworks, and engineering best practices. Experience with Agile development methodologies, CI/CD, automated testing, and DevOps practices. Strong understanding of software security, system reliability, performance optimization, and technical risk management. Excellent leadership, communication, strategic planning, and problem-solving skills. Ability to manage competing priorities, make sound technical decisions, and deliver results in a dynamic environment. Preferred Skills: Experience leading large-scale software modernization or cloud migration initiatives. Familiarity with microservices, containerization, Kubernetes, and infrastructure as code. Experience defining engineering metrics, improving delivery efficiency, and managing technical debt. Experience collaborating with executive leadership on technology strategy and long-term planning.
