Sterile Processing TechnicianPerforms proper operational procedures for sterilization of instrumentation and reusable med/surg supplies. Fills OR case carts and maintains OR supply inventory. Cleans, disinfects and maintains reusable patient care equipment for the nursing unit.Minimum Qualifications:Education, Certification, and/or Licensure:High School diploma or equivalent.Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) through the Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA) OR Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) through the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD) within 12 months of hire.Preferred Qualifications:Experience:Three (3) months of sterilization equipment and procedures experienceCore Duties and Responsibilities:The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Other duties may be assigned.Maintain accurate operation of sterilization equipment.Maintain department in clean and sterile condition.Check inventory and discard expired items that cannot be re-sterilized.Properly sterilize and package all reusable items.Collects soiled instrumentation and equipment to be reprocessed.Cleaning, sterilization and distribution of instruments and hard goods used in the operating room and other user areas of the hospital.Cleaning and disinfections of patient equipment used in hospital.Take telephone orders from user department for supply replenishment and record, fill and distribute orders to proper department.Fills case cart requisitions for surgery department.Order specialty equipment from vendors.Ability to charge inventory to appropriate departments.Knowledge of MS4 ordering system.Count inventory.Physical Requirements:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
