About Marie Philip School MPS enrolls nearly 150 deaf and hard of hearing students on our Framingham, MA campus in an ASL/English bilingual, bicultural educational model. Position Summary The Residential Counselor will provide leadership to residential students by developing, implementing and monitoring all residential activities, which support residential students’ social, physical, intellectual, communicative and emotional development. SUPERVISOR: Director of Student Services Functions and Responsibilities Provide direct supervision and support to the residential students. Support, plan and maintain residential and independent living skills activities to meet identified individual residential student and/or programmatic needs. Utilize databases to ensure all externally and internally required reports are complete, accurate, and implemented on schedule. Work collaboratively with TLC colleagues to facilitate students’ educational, social, recreational and life skills activities within existing programs. Be accountable for the general supervision of residential students and remain on duty during emergency situations. Maintain residential program’s expectations, including school policies and procedures. Work with other Residential Counselors in coordinating activities, field trips or finding guest speakers for residential programs if needed. Assist TLC staff with coordinating other related activities as deemed appropriate. May be delegated and trained to conduct medication administration or certain medical procedure responsibilities for students. Some lifting may be required when working with young students or students with special needs, however, TLC embraces and celebrates a spirit of inclusion and diversity, and reasonable accommodations and modifications will be made whenever possible. Requirements BA/BS degree in Human Services or equivalent preferred High School diploma with 2 years of experience in residential setting preferred A minimum of conversational fluency in American Sign Language required, with native, or near-native ASL fluency preferred ASL Classes may be required based on ASL fluency Ability to work effectively as part of a team Knowledge of issues and priorities important to students’ needs in a residential program preferred Knowledge of Microsoft Office and GoogleWorkspace programs Willingness to work a varied schedule Experience in developing, implementing and/or planning activities for residential students Must possess a valid driver’s license in good standing Willingness to transport students in TLC vehicles Physical Requirements Must be physically able to perform all duties of the job including restraining assaultive students when necessary, pursuing running students and participating in sports and recreation activities with students. Job may also include prolonged standing, frequently lifting up to 50 pounds, pushing, pulling, bending, stooping, twisting, reaching above shoulder level as well as reacting quickly to minimize escalating behavioral outbursts. #J-18808-Ljbffr
