Mortgage Lender Supervisor

Solicits residential first mortgages through contacts with Realtors, builders, and developers. Interview loan applicants and makes credit decisions.

Supervises designated Mortgage Loan Originators. Provides strategic direction and leadership to ensure corporate and divisional goals are met. This position is responsible for working with the management team to ensure mortgage loan production meets established objectives while assuring the production meets quality standards and compliance guidelines.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Work with assigned branch office to ensure awareness of home loan products.
• Handle referrals from branch office and provide appropriate follow-up.
• Develop referral contacts (realtors, builders, professional and personal contacts).
• Analyze financial data to determine creditworthiness.
• Maintain knowledge of available loan products, processing procedures and underwriting guidelines.
• Take borrower applications.
• Utilize communication and access of daily rates, credit reports and AUS responses and transmitting to processor.
• Collect appropriate documentation from each applicant and deliver loan package to processor in a timely manner.
• Maintain high levels of customer service while managing each applicant's and support staff's expectations.
• Attend and participate in all lending meetings as required.
• Complete BSA/AML training and other compliance training as necessary.
• The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
• Supervise designated mortgage originators.
• Set and monitor production and income target goals for originators.
• Keep originators informed of new products, changes in procedures or products, and any other tools that will help them be more productive.
• Be present in the field to assist with sales to market realtors, closing agents, attorneys, and other centers of influence to aid in production for the market originators.
• Work with operations manager to insure good flow between production and operations/processing.
• Monitor service levels delivered to customers.
• Perform any other related duties as required or assigned.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty mentioned satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Education and experience equivalent to a four year college degree, plus 6 years related experience and/or training, and 3 years related management experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Ability to read, analyze, and understand general business/company related articles and professional journals; Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram formats.

This position requires S.A.F.E. Act registration at the time of employment through the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System (NMLS).

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities may include but not limited to interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Supervises a small group (1-3) of employees in the same or lower classification. Assigns and checks work; assists and instructs as required, but performs same work as those supervised, or closely related work, most of the time. Content of the work supervised is of a non-technical nature and does not vary in complexity to any great degree.

Supervises the following departments: Mortgage

Somewhat disagreeable working conditions. Continuously exposed to one or two elements such as noise, intermittent standing, walking; and pushing, carrying, or lifting. May involve some travel and/or work is at times, in the evening or during the night hours.
