Title: Counselor Department: SO Student Activities Campus Location: South Campus Employee Classification: APT - Administrative Position Type: PT - Regular Grant Funded: No Pay Frequency: Monthly Compensation Details: Starting Pay - $33.85 Work Hours: Various based upon departmental needs Remote Eligible: This position is not eligible for remotework Special Instructions to Applicant: This is a part-timeposition, with a maximum of 19.5 hrs. per week Job Summary: This role is responsible for providing counseling and individualand group educational and vocational guidance services. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Essential Performance Requirements* Assists individuals to understanding and overcoming social,emotional, and developmental issues Coordinates with campus police, faculty, administrators, andstaff to provide crisis intervention, counseling, andreferral Develops and presents relevant wellness and/or student successseminars on campus Refers students to relevant community resources as needed Engages in research and follow-up activities to evaluatecounseling techniques Assists with the academic advising process Visits area high schools to conduct seminars and presentations,or disperse college information as necessary Communicates, collaborates, and provides consultation withfaculty to increase student success Collects, organizes, and analyzes information about individualsthrough records, tests, interviews, and professional sources toappraise their interests, aptitudes, abilities, and personalitycharacteristics, for vocational and educational planning Compiles and studies occupational, educational, and economicinformation to aid counselees in making and carrying out vocationaland educational objectives Service Excellence Participates on behalf of the College in external communityorganizations and associations as assigned to support the essentialperformance requirements Attends the workplace regularly, reports to work punctually, andfollows a work schedule to keep up the demands of theworksite Completes all required training and professional developmentsessions sponsored through Tarrant County College (TCC) Supports the mission, values, goals, and principles of theCollege Supervision Works under the supervision of the assigned campus leader *Performs Other Related Tasks as Required The duties listed are intended only as illustrations of thevarious types of work that may be performed. Required Minimum Qualifications: Master's degree in Counseling, Psychology, or Social Work, orrelated field Three (3) years' working experience providing counseling Currently a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), a LicensedMarriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), a Licensed ClinicalPsychologist (LCP), a National Certified Counselor (NCC), or aLicensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) Must hold an unrestricted mental health license in Texas Preferred Qualifications: At least one (1) year’s professional working experience providingcounseling in a higher education environment Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Skilled in delivering high-quality customer service and buildingeffective interpersonal relationships, including strong listening,verbal, and written communication skills Skilled in using computer applications and enterprise systems,including the Microsoft Office suite and the Microsoft 365platform Ability to perform and prioritize multiple tasks seamlesslyensuring accurate and timely completion, while exhibiting strongattention to detail and organization Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of ateam in collaborative environments, engaging with faculty, staff,and external stakeholders Ability to think critically to effectively solve and communicateproblems in a fast-paced environment where the demands for work arevaried, and unpredictable in scope and volume Ability to analyze data and provide sound recommendations basedon policy, procedure, practice, and existing regulations Ability to maintain a high level of diplomacy and tact, ensuringconfidentiality and discretion with sensitive and confidentialinformation Physical Demands and Work Environment: Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of thosethat must be met by an employee to successfully perform theessential functions of this job.
