Position Summary

The Temporary Youth Specialist provides direct supervision, guidance, and support to youth in care while maintaining a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment. This role is responsible for implementing treatment plans, documenting client progress, and supporting the daily operations of the residential program.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise and guide clients in a variety of daily activities while maintaining a healthy, safe, and structured environment.

• Implement and support individual treatment plans while treating all clients with dignity and respect.

• Review all documented charts, logs, and communication records at the beginning of each shift.

• Maintain accurate and timely documentation throughout the shift.

• Complete and submit all required logs, reports, documentation, and assigned projects before the end of each shift.

• Participate in and successfully complete all required agency, licensing, contractual, and program training.

• Serve as a mandated reporter in accordance with Michigan Child Protection Law.

• Attend required staff meetings and trainings.

• Perform other duties as assigned.

Reporting Relationship

Reports to the Youth Specialist Supervisor as designated by assigned shift.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

• High School Diploma or G.E.D. required (Youth Specialist)

90-DAY REQUIREMENTS

• Level 1 Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) endorsement for basic core skills
• Completion of Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) seminar provided by the agency, with ability to apply and perform CPI techniques
• American Red Cross CPR and First Aid Certification
• Valid Michigan driver and chauffeur license or ability to obtain chauffeur license
