About New Dawn & Our Mission

New Dawn is a specialized Behavioral Rehabilitation Services (BRS) program providing intensive, individualized, and trauma-informed care for up to five young men (ages 11–17). The youth in our care have experienced severe trauma, abuse, or neglect and require a highly structured, safe, and therapeutic environment to stabilize and heal.

We are not just a shelter; we are a dedicated stabilization program. We are seeking disciplined, emotionally regulated, and experienced professionals who understand crisis de-escalation, behavioral modification, and the complexities of juvenile mental health.

Small Milieu Size: Max capacity of 5 youth, allowing for strong staff-to-client ratios and meaningful behavioral intervention.

Professional Growth: Gain intensive, hands-on experience in clinical behavioral health, crisis management, and social services.

Supportive Environment: Work in a fully updated, secure residential setting with a team dedicated to safety, accountability, and staff support.

What You Will Do (Key Responsibilities)

As a BRS Specialist, you are the anchor of the therapeutic milieu. Your primary focus is behavioral rehabilitation, safety, and mentorship:

Behavioral Intervention & De-Escalation: Actively utilize approved crisis intervention and trauma-informed techniques to de-escalate high-acute behaviors and manage crisis situations calmly.

Milieu Management: Maintain strict line-of-sight supervision during waking hours, ensuring a safe, structured, and predictable routine.

Clinical Documentation: Observe, track, and accurately document youth behaviors, daily progress notes, and incident reports to support clinical treatment plans.

Life Skills & Mentorship: Model positive emotional regulation, boundaries, and accountability while teaching vital independent living skills (including educational support, recreation, and tracking health goals).

Program Operations: Administer medications strictly per policy; transport youth to local school, medical appointments, or community activities; and share in maintaining a clean, structured household environment (cooking/cleaning coaching).

What We Look For (Minimum Qualifications)

To ensure the safety of our staff and the youth we serve, candidates must meet the following criteria:

Age: Must be at least 21 years of age.

Experience: Minimum of 12 months of documented experience working with vulnerable, high-acuity, or at-risk youth populations (e.g., juvenile justice, residential treatment, psychiatric youth care, behavioral special education); OR current enrollment in an accredited college program in Social Work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or Human Services.

Clearances: Ability to pass a Washington State criminal history background check and a pre-employment drug screening.

Credentials: Valid Driver’s License with clean driving record and auto insurance. Ability to obtain/maintain a Washington State Food Handlers Card, CPR/First Aid Certification, and negative TB test results.

Physical Capacity: Ability to navigate a 2-story home with stairs, lift up to 25 lbs., and remain physically agile to ensure safety interventions if required.
